Scenario:

You work for Sun Peaks Resort. Review their website to ensure you understand their mandate and their goals.

After a recent cold snap resulted in increased snowfall and some challenges driving to the Sun Peaks area, weather is finally ideal for travel. Visitor are currently using the Sun Peaks area but the resort wants to attract more families. Do some research into media coverage from the last two years (especially in the Kamloops area) focused on family activities at Sun Peaks.

In preparation for the remaining winter months you will prepare a Media Relations Plan and a package of PR material for the Media Room to help increase visitor numbers, especially families, to the ski resort and to highlight Sun Peaks as a more than just a ski destination. Present the resort as an ideal location for diverse winter tourism and welcoming to families who want a fun weekend trip.  Provide both visitors and tourism providers with key information about activities offered beyond skiing.  You will need to think carefully about the different goals and objectives for your media plan, as well as different audience groups. Finally, think carefully about the range of tourism businesses and opportunities in the area and the kinds of practical information that could be provided.
