This module has provided insights into some of the key tools, concepts and debates in strategic analysis. This assessment requires that you apply some of these ideas to an organisation of your choice.

Instructions:

1. Critically evaluate the main theories of strategy development and explain how they contribute to understanding strategic planning and management. (30 marks)
2. Analyse the industry and external environment of your chosen organisation, highlighting the key opportunities and threats that shape its strategy. (15 marks)
3. Assess the resources and capabilities of the organisation and discuss how these create or limit its competitive advantage. (15 marks)
4. Develop a strategic vision and a set of SMART objectives that you recommend for the future direction of the organisation. (15 marks)
5. Identify the critical success factors (CSFs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) needed to measure and guide the implementation of your proposed strategy. (10 marks)
6. Discuss the strategic planning, implementation, and change management implications that must be considered to ensure success. (15 marks)

Criteria:

The full report is to be 3000 words +/-10% (excluding Appendices). As part of the assessment, you are welcome to focus partly on why some of the strategic tools/concepts and organisation theories do not apply in your case and/or why you decided to focus on the tools/ approaches you decided. Reports must reference at least 10 relevant Journal articles.
