Assignment Brief and Guidance

Assume you are a newly appointed Management Trainee to ABC company (Select an organization that is assessable to you) and you were appointed to study the HRM Practices being practiced in the company and to provide recommendations on changes that can be introduced to ensure that HRM practices contribute for sustainable Organizational Performance.

Prepare a report to be submitted to the top management based on the study. The report should include

Task 01

  1. In HRM, there are several areas that an organization has to focus on. Explain the main areas of HRM including (include at least 03 areas out of Job Design, Job analysis, HR Planning, Training and Development, Performance Evaluation, Employee relations) their contribution to creating sustainable performance and compare the selected areas in terms of their contribution.
  2. Change is essential for the survival of an organization in the highly turbulent Business Environment today. Further, embracing changes requires the organization to have a human resource with required potentials. Review the extent to which the selected organization embrace changes (whether the organization embrace change as required or not) and its effect on human resources skills and knowledge requirement.
  3. Where change is essential for all most all the aspects of an organization, the way by which the Human resources are managed is not an exception. Examine the changes that have been introduced in relation to HRM to co-op up with the changing nature of the modern business environment.
  4. HRM is identified to be strategically important for an organization in having sustained organizational performance. Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of HRM that are being practiced in the organization, in relation to creating sustainable organisational performance
  5. Recruitment and ensuring that the newly hired employees retain with the organization of employees is vital in attainment of organizational goals and objectives. Review and evaluate the HRM practices in relation to recruitment and retention of employees for the achievement of business objectives of the organization
  6. Labour market conditions are of utmost importance in recruiting and retaining people. Assess how the recruitment and retention is affected by the labour market conditions.

Task 02

  1. There are factors that need to be considered in HRM decision making. Investigate and discuss the key External and Internal factors that affect HRM Decision making in relation to your organization and illustrate how they support organisational development using relevant examples.
  2. It is indispensable to consider all the internal and external factors, in order to make sure that the right decisions are taken. Evaluate the identified External and Internal factors and provide valid recommendations as to how the HRM Decision making should be aligned as per the identified factors.

Task 03

  1. Even though it is evident that HRM practices contribute to sustainable Organizational Performance, still there are situations where the HRM practices are not aligned accordingly. Apply and illustrate HRM practices in relation to the work-related context to demonstrate improvement to sustainable organisational Performance using specific examples.
  2. Demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of HRM that are being introduced in the organization, in relation to improving sustainable organisational performance and give recommendations as to how they should be addressed.
