Part B
Examine the Key Performance Indicator Matrix and complete task 1 and 2 relating to the operation of the Soup and Subs Foodbar in the scenario below.
Scenario
Soup and Subs Foodbar is a new shop in a small, established shopping centre in a local community. Markus and Marisa started the Business recently and quickly enjoyed a regular customer base that had grown significantly. The opening of a new set of factories nearby was adding to the customer base and a change in the road system was bringing more people. They had reached the point where they needed to add new staff and organise a roster for them.
Soup and Sub is open six days per week from 9am until 5pm. All the new staff agreed to work on a casual basis under an Australian Workplace Agreement involving a 40-hour per week roster and a rostered day off every two weeks. They are all paid a flat rate of $20 per hour and no staffs other than Marisa and Markus are permanent. However, they all work a full 40-hour shift except Jai, who has very good computer skills but is not fluent in English. She works only two days per week mainly helping Marisa with the administration, pays and purchasing.
In order to run the shop effectively and efficiently, three people are needed on each day with one being an administration person (ie either Marisa or Jai). Wednesday and Thursday are the busiest days and require four staff on duty. Marisa organises the pays on Wednesday and does the ordering on Thursday.

Task 1
Interpret a Key Performance Indicator Matrix and use it for implementing operational plans in an organisation – Soup and Subs Foodbar.
Having considered the Human Resources needed for Soup and Sub, what other resources would the Soup and Sup Food Bar need? What strategies would you put into place to manage these resources efficiently and effectively?
Skills, motivation and personal preferences are important considerations in planning operations in any organisation. At Soup and Sub, everyone is willing to share their skills but some have areas they lack confidence or would prefer to avoid.
For example, Marisa lacks confidence in customer contact and use of the ATM and cash register while Fred absolutely hates computers and will not even switch one on. Markus and Anne on the other hand would like to learn to use computers and Jai wants to learn English.
