This effort was achieved through sheer determination, single-minded focus on his goal and tremendous personal sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Ramroop made his first export trip in 1992. He was supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/uk-trade-investment\">UKTI<\/a>to help ensure business success in international markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u201dThe focus was on the export market ,\u201d he recalls. \u201cAt that time, there was very little business in the UK due to the recession. I wrote\u00a0to sixty persons abroad who had been customers over the years to let them know I would be coming to New York. At that time I was venturing into unchartered territory as I hadn\u2019t a clue what to expect. I simply wrote asking whether they would be interested in seeing me or in giving me referrals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trip paid off handsomely: the firm\u2019s US earnings soared and helped the firm\u00a0survive to\u00a0become, as he\u00a0puts it, \u201ca very brisk business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, the world doesn\u2019t just come to Maurice Sedwell; Maurice Sedwell goes to the world.
