Each topic also contributes to the knowledge needed to be able to apply yourself to the assignment and meet the core learning outcomes as set out below.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Module Learning Outcomes (LO\u2019s)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>To understand and conceptualise a \u2018research problem\u2019 in contemporary management.<\/li>\n<li>To analyse how management researchers have conducted significant research projects.<\/li>\n<li>To identify and critically discuss what is considered \u2018cutting edge\u2019 knowledge within management.<\/li>\n<li>To identify and assess potential areas of research within different management disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>To understand the importance of ethics in management research, and how to apply ethical principles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Assessment Task<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em>A senior executive in your organisation is interested in how completing a DBA might help to address organisational problems. He is interested in what a suitable research project might involve and how it might be carried out in a manner that he considers ethical.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Your task is to respond to your manager by writing a full report. The report will seek to achieve the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conceptualise \u2018management research\u2019<em>(up to 750 words)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Identify a subject area (e.g. HR, leadership, marketing, etc) and critically consider leading areas of knowledge within that subject area, drawing on existing research<em> (up to 1,500 words)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Identify an organisational problem (within your own organisation, or one you know well) which is suitable for DBA research and explain why it is suitable for such research<em> (up to 1,000 words)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Explain how you might conceptualise a research question to address that problem<em> (up to 500 words)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Identify the different stages you would need to consider in the research process<em> (up to 750 words)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Critically consider ethical issues in research and state how you would design your research in an ethical fashion <em>(up to 1,000 words).<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Introduction <em>(up to 250 words)<\/em> and Conclusion <em>(up to 250 words).<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The report should be up to 6,000 words in length. You may choose how to allocate this word count across the different elements of the assignment. However, a possible target word count has been provided in brackets next to each bullet point \u2013 <em>this is indicative only<\/em>!
