Moral affairs such as divulging terminal diagnosis, withdrawing life support, euthanasia, advance directive, patient\u2013physician communication and xenotransplantation are considered differently by people from different backgrounds. A study conducted in Navajo reservation in northeast Arizona by Joseph Carrese and Lorna Rhodes (1995), as mentioned in the Turner\u2019s article reveals that disclosure of negative news to ill patients is considered cruel; rather they desire positive comments, as they believe that thought and language has the power to shape reality (Turner, 2003,pp 106-107). Therefore, this concept itself clashes with autonomy, which is a widely accepted principle of principlism. Moreover, non-western cultures are centered on family and socially informed consent than on individual informed consent, which makes universal applicability of Informed Consent (a specification of Autonomy) a questionable one(Stewart, 2011). So autonomy is not a common morality, rather a particular morality, hence principlism needs elaboration and revision in order to use globally to solve cross-cultural issues (Stewart, 2011).
