Please check announcements on Web Learn <strong>before you go to your room for last minute room changes. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing for sessions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read beforehand<\/strong> &#8211; you should be able to access the key readings for the week prior to the session<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get organised from the start<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; diarise key events<\/p>\n<p>-find a system of note taking that works for you<\/p>\n<p>-create storage systems [plus portable storage i.e. files] for each module<\/p>\n<p>-decide where you will study at home [and in the university]<\/p>\n<p>-create a realistic timetable that includes some social time<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read the PowerPoint before the session and bring it with you<\/strong> or bring a tablet or small laptop you can read it off during the session<\/li>\n<li><strong>Look regularly at Web Learn <\/strong>for information and to engage with e.g. the discussion board, access PowerPoint\u2019s and readings<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contact your tutor or the module leader<\/strong> if you are having difficulty as s\/he will be able to help you. You should also let your Academic Tutor know if you are finding study difficult for some reason<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is expected of you:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This module is part of a course that is based in the School of Social Professions and we expect you to be developing a professional approach to all your work.\u00a0\u00a0 We hope it will be an interesting and enjoyable process for you .You will gain more if you are willing to join in and have a go.\u00a0 Your module tutor will discuss group expectations at the start of semester.<\/p>\n<p>As a general rule:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>if you cannot come to a session email your tutor to let him or her know \u2013 try to catch up on what you have missed via WebLearn at home<\/li>\n<li>try to come to as many sessions as you possibly can as we know from student data that those who attend regularly do far better in their assignments<\/li>\n<li>turn off your mobile <u>before <\/u>you enter the room and put it into your pocket or bag \u2013 you can make calls\/texts before or after sessions or during the coffee break mid session<\/li>\n<li>if you are late, enter the room <em>quietly<\/em>and try to avoid disrupting other people in the group<\/li>\n<li>join in discussions &#8211; be brave and share your ideas in the group<\/li>\n<li>ask questions &#8211; if you&#8217;re thinking it someone else will be too<\/li>\n<li>have a go and make mistakes &#8211; you can&#8217;t learn without taking a risk<\/li>\n<li>listen actively during teaching times without disruption <em>[questions are allowed]<\/em><\/li>\n<li>form good working relationships with other students &#8211; <em>very important<\/em><\/li>\n<li>eat\/drink before classes- it keeps your cognitive powers going.<\/li>\n<li>attend tutorials and act on advice offered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you can expect of us:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>we will try to make the sessions as interesting as we can<\/li>\n<li>we will be well prepared and we have expertise and interest in this module area<\/li>\n<li>materials will be on WebLearn well in advance of sessions<\/li>\n<li>we will communicate with you via \u2018announcements\u2019 on WebLearn any changes to the programme<\/li>\n<li>we will support you with assignments and help you to improve your grades<\/li>\n<li>we will value what you bring to the module \u2013 we want to hear about your experiences and what you have learnt through your reading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Assessment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Full details of both assessment tasks will be in the \u2018Assessment details\u2019 section of Weblearn, &amp; discussed in class.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Assessment A:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>A case study response <\/strong><strong>2000 words, weighting 40%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadlines for Assessment A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Week 20.\u00a0 Exact deadline date is in Evision.\u00a0 Submit work by 3:00pm on the due date, via Turnitin<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Assessment B:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>An essay drawing on a reflective journal kept throughout the module <\/strong><strong>2500 words, weighting 60%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadlines for assessment B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Week 26.
