{"id":1003,"date":"2019-03-23T07:38:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-23T07:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/assignmenttask.com\/answers\/?p=1003"},"modified":"2020-01-16T20:25:28","modified_gmt":"2020-01-16T20:25:28","slug":"sh4001-social-determinants-of-health-report-assessment2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assignmenttask.com\/answers\/sh4001-social-determinants-of-health-report-assessment2\/","title":{"rendered":"SH4001 Social Determinants of Health Report Assessment2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Introduction to the Report\u00a0<\/strong><strong>&#8211; 2<sup>nd<\/sup>Assessment<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>SH4001<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Aims of today\u2019s session<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide details on the requirements of the 2<sup>nd <\/sup>Assessment: Report<\/li>\n<li>Recall academic skills needed for the report<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Assessment 002:<\/p>\n<p>Write a 2,000 word report (70%) identifying one social determinant of health and analyse how it is being addressed in the selected area\/setting which draws on their learning from the presentations and relates to the same selected area\/setting (LO3,LO4) (<a href=\"https:\/\/assignmenttask.com\/nursing\/\"><strong>Nursing Assignment<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Learning Objectives:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Describe selected health and social care policies<\/li>\n<li>Identify the social determinants of health and the relationship to health inequalities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Assessment 2: Report<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students should present a written report which<\/li>\n<li>Identifies at <strong>least one <\/strong>social determinant of health<\/li>\n<li><strong>Describe <\/strong>how it is being addressed in the selected area or setting (describe a relevant policy)<\/li>\n<li>Draws on your learning from the poster presentation and relates to the same selected area and issue ( if you want to change your issue, you must discuss this with your seminar leader).<\/li>\n<li>The work must demonstrate achievement of Learning Outcomes 3 &amp; 4 (see module handbook).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Report Simplified&#8230;.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Profile of the borough<\/li>\n<li>Health or social care issue<\/li>\n<li>Health Inequality<\/li>\n<li>Social Determinants of health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe a relevant Policy<\/li>\n<li>What does it suggest?<\/li>\n<li>what does it leave out?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify a relevant Public Health Provision<\/li>\n<li>How are they addressing the health inequality? What are the gaps?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Report in detail&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the assessment folder on webelarn, you will find supporting materials for your report.<\/p>\n<p>I have included a <strong>detailed example of how you may wish to structure your report. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may follow this as a guideline for your final submission, however it does not guarantee you a pass!<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look&#8230;.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Support with report (drafts)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Students are allowed to submit a draft of their report onto turnitin on the <\/strong><strong>19th March 2019 by 3pm<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drafts after this time will not be accepted<\/p>\n<p>The draft should follow the same format as the report<\/p>\n<p>Comments will be provided on turnitin<\/p>\n<p><strong>One \u2013 to-one tutorials will be offered on the <\/strong><strong>02 April 2019 <\/strong><strong>by appointment only. Details of how to book appointment will be sent out closer to the time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Final Submission Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Reports should be submitted via turnitin \u2013 the links will be on the module weblearn in the ONLINE SUBMISSION folder.<\/p>\n<p>You can submit versions of your report before the deadline to check the plagiarism level \u2013 leave enough time to make necessary changes.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 20.0pt; line-height: 107%;\">Notes on style<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Number the pages<\/li>\n<li>Use a legible font such as Arial, Times, Calibri, veranda.<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Do not use italic fonts<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Only use bold in headings<\/li>\n<li>Double space your writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Report format<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A title page with a clear title<\/li>\n<li>A table of contents<\/li>\n<li>An introduction detailing the plan for your report<\/li>\n<li>Key headings of areas to be discussed<\/li>\n<li>A reference list should be included following the <strong><u>Harvard referencing<\/u> <u>system (imperial guidelines)<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Remember: Core Academic Skills<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Why does this matter?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completing your report will require that you have EVIDENCE to discuss how your selected topic relates to social determinants, working with policy, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Where will you find your evidence?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Finding evidence: Where do I start?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Good place to start is the <strong>class reading list in your module handbook <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each week has readings \u2013 these are good place to start<\/li>\n<li>You must have deep understanding of these readings and the phenomena, theories, or studies they refer to<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Independent research for further articles on some of the sites we have suggested, (recall library sessions on how to find evidence\/items at the library)<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Academic reading: laying the foundations for writing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Your report, essay or presentation<\/p>\n<p>Supported by strong foundations:\u00a0<u>evidence\u00a0<\/u>from your academic reading example from Lawrence et al, 2014:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Disadvantaged populations are simultaneously most at risk of chronic disease, and least likely to meet current guidelines for healthy lifestyles or to make changes to their health behaviours\u2019 (Buck and Frosini, 2012).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Managing academic reading<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Effective academic reading is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selective\/Targeted<\/li>\n<li>Relevant<\/li>\n<li>Purposeful<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means&#8230;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You <strong>don\u2019t <\/strong>have to read everything!<\/li>\n<li>But <strong>you still have to master the material recommended in the module handbook<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Selective, time-efficient reading<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Identify your purpose (e.g. are you reading for a general overview or specific focus)<\/p>\n<p>Use contents\/index (books) or abstract (journal article) to establish\/find relevant sections<\/p>\n<p>For a general overview: <strong>skim <\/strong>for gist\/main ideas (not necessarily expected to understand <em>everything<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>For targeted read: <strong>scan <\/strong>for specific focus (and then read in more detail)<\/p>\n<p>Ctrl-F to \u2018find\u2019<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Academic Reading: Managing unfamiliar language<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>May not be necessary to stop and check individual words if skimming for gist<\/p>\n<p>Can often work out meaning from context or component parts e.g.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Trained practitioners demonstrated significantly greater use of these clientcentred skills \u2026 compared to their <strong>un<\/strong>trained peers up to 1 year <strong>post<\/strong>-training.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Current public health policy stresses the potential of <strong>cumulative<\/strong>, small changes in individual behaviour\u2026<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Can use online dictionaries, or <u>lingro.com <\/u>or specialised Health and<\/p>\n<p>Social care glossaries, or build your own glossary of terms<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Writing effectively<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>A Contextual Approach to Writing \u2013 as a student<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>University \u2013 What are the expectations, the rules, the laws of writing in university?<\/p>\n<p>A student \u2013 what are the values that Shape you? How well do you want to do?
